Hello, my name is Jamie McInerney and this is my 11th year teaching second grade at Navesink. I was fortunate enough to spend a wonderful summer with my two children. Madison is four and Dylan is two so they certainly kept me busy!
I began my education at Seton Hall University, where I received degrees in Elementary Education and English Education. I then pursued my Masters Degree in Reading Education. I currently hold teaching certificates for Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, Reading Specialist, and English. This past summer I attended the Reading Workshop Institute at Teacher's College at Columbia University. I am a perpetual learner who loves taking classes and advancing my knowledge through research (and now YouTube).
I read this and it really summed up how I feel about being a teacher. "You see, I worry all the time. About ALL of them. I worry about your child’s pencil grip, and another child’s letter sounds, and that little tiny one’s shyness, and that other one’s chronically empty lunchbox. I worry that Gavin’s coat is not warm enough, and that Talitha’s dad yells at her for printing the letter B backwards. Most of my car rides and showers are consumed with the worrying." - Amy Murray, Miss Night's Marbles
